On April 7th, AIRROC hosted a webinar titled “The Evolving Role of Actuaries and Claims Professionals” in collaboration with PwC, where Grant Donkervoet represented the NextGen Task Force on a panel discussion. The webinar kicked off with a PwC presentation on workforce trends in the insurance industry, operational and functional changes in the claims and actuarial environment, as well as a discussion on closing the skills gap for industry professionals. The panel later engaged in an in-depth discussion around the role of technology in the evolving insurance workplace, the relationship between expert judgment and model insights, the importance of upskilling, and the outlook of a more flexible, inclusive work environment. Grant highlighted the NextGen Task Force’s mission of connecting younger insurance professionals to the legacy space. He also shared views on how data and technology supplement and improve decision making in the claims and actuarial context, and how the pandemic has led the industry to reexamine a more flexible work environment. A recording of this insightful webinar will be available “on demand” to members on AIRROC’s new Learning Management System to be launched shortly.
